The set is 1,217 drawings. Each one comes in stroke, two-tone, duotone and fill, rounded or sharp: 9,736 SVGs.
Thirty-nine of them are new. Eight are for sport: five balls, a cricket bat, hockey sticks and a golf hole. Two are stock charts, one rising and one falling, and six stand on their own: a gamepad, an alien, an atom, a paw print, two hearts and a tree. Nine were missing from the set until now: two anchors, a lifebuoy for support, a push pin with and without its slash, a second bin, and a terminal prompt in a shield, a file and an app window. Five are in a hurry: a shooting star, a truck, a paper plane, a bike and a stopwatch, each with speed lines behind it. The rest switch something off or bring something in: captions, subtitles and play with a slash across them, and an arrow entering a square from each corner.
Seventeen older drawings were redrawn as well: the parcel and its ten signs in duotone, three sparkle drawings with sharp corners, two switched-off drawings that now match what they switch off, and a window whose cursor grew.
Five balls, one ring
Four of the balls are one circle, as wide as the icon allows: soccer-ball, basketball, baseball and tennis-ball. What tells them apart is inside it: the soccer ball's pentagon and its five seams, the basketball's cross and two side curves, the baseball's stitching and the tennis ball's two sweeping curves. american-football is the fifth, an oval with its laces across the middle.
In duotone, each of the four keeps its ring black and everything inside it grey, so the round outline carries the ball and the seams read as detail. The soccer ball keeps its pentagon's outline black as well.
The other three for sport are cricket-bat, with the ball beside the blade, hockey-sticks, two sticks crossed, and golf-hole, a flag standing in the hole.
Stock charts, a gamepad and an atom
chart-stock-up and chart-stock-down are a line zigzagging up or down inside a frame, for a market that is rising or falling.
gamepad is a controller as wide as the icon allows, with a cross on the left and two buttons on the right. The atom is two orbits around a dot, and each breaks where it passes behind the other, so they take turns in front. paw-print is four toes over a pad, hearts is one heart in front of another, alien is a head with two eyes, and tree-deciduous is a round, leafy crown on a forked trunk.
Anchors, a lifebuoy and a pin
There are two anchors. anchor has a round crown with its ends turned in, and anchor-2 hangs two barbed hooks from its shank.
lifebuoy is a ring with four bands across the diagonals. The set had no drawing for support until now, so search finds the lifebuoy for support, help and life ring too.
pin is a push pin leaning on the diagonal, and the lean is what lets pin-off work: the slash crosses the pin square to its length and parts it cleanly in two. Standing upright, the same cut left small pieces of the pin's head behind.
bin-2 is a bin with two lines down its front. And the prompt from cloud-terminal now sits in three more drawings, shield-terminal, file-terminal and app-window-terminal, each as large as its shape holds with the set's usual space around it.
A star that leaves a trail
star-shooting is the set's star, as large as the corner above its trail allows, with three lines streaming behind it along the diagonal. The middle line is the longest and runs straight back from the star. The two beside it are shorter and start further forward, so the three read as one trail rather than a stack of dashes.
The star is turned a little, so that one of its points faces straight back down that middle line. Upright, the points and the lines pull different ways and the star looks pushed. Turned, the trail comes out of it.
The longest line points at the star's back, so the trail looks like something the star left behind.
The paper plane takes the same three lines in the same places. The rocket had flown this way on its own until now, as rocket-2. A number said nothing about what set it apart from rocket, and now there is a word for it, so it is rocket-fast. The old name still finds it in search, and Rocket2 still imports in React.
A truck that keeps its size
A truck is as wide as the icon it sits in. Putting lines behind it would mean shrinking it until the wheels were dots. So truck-fast keeps the whole truck and gives up its back wall instead: the roof runs on past where the wall was and becomes the top line, and two shorter lines step in below it.
The bike and the stopwatch follow the same idea. The bike already had empty space behind the rider, so the truck's two lines go there at the same lengths. The stopwatch opens the left side of its ring, and the lines come in through the gap.
In fill, the lines are cut out
In duotone the lines are black against the grey body. Fill has no grey to set them against, so there they are cut out of the solid shape instead. The truck and the stopwatch get white slots through their backs, the same way the paper plane's fold has always been cut out of its filled shape.
Switched off, at the same size
captions-off, subtitles-off and play-off are the drawings they switch off, with the slash across them. Nothing is shrunk to make room: the slash clears a gap through whatever it crosses, and every other line stays exactly where it was. Play is slashed in its square and its circle too, as square-play-off and circle-play-off.
Held to the same rule, two of the older ones did not pass. power-off still had the narrower opening the power button was drawn with before it was redrawn, so its ring ran on past where the button's stops. And with sharp corners, volume-off had a speaker squared off from the rounded one, taller than the sharp speaker it switches off. Both are now their originals with the slash across.
An arrow into a square
square-arrow-in-down-right is an arrow coming into a square through the corner the square leaves open, for importing, docking or pulling something into a window. It turns to come in from each of the four corners.
Also redrawn
The parcel and its ten signs changed in duotone only. The lid is now the dark part, with the tape crossing it in grey, and the lines that used to stop short of the edge are gone.
With sharp corners, cpu-sparkles and film-sparkles now turn the corner where they open for their stars, like every other corner of their frames, and brain-sparkles closes its two lobes on one level end instead of two crossed ones. And the cursor in app-window-cursor is a third bigger.
